The Community of St Benedict uses the calendar and lectionary of the Church of Ireland, with a few additional feast days. In addition to the usual calendar, we have made the commemorations suggested in the Irish Book of Common Prayer 2004 into Lesser Festivals and added some monastic saints, particularly from the Benedictine and Cistercian traditions.
On most days of the year, our lectionary follows that of the Church of Ireland. We include antiphons to be said before and after the Gospel Canticles at Morning and Evening Prayer. We also include suggestions of other canticles from Common Worship Daily Prayer as supplemental to those in the Irish BCP.
